The area of this plot is about 1500 sq.ft. inclusive of a ground + 1st level. The design of this bungalow draws its inspiration from a combination of tropical and contemporary design.

Adapting from a very simple palette of building materials; the Siporex walls with RCC columns, a typical sloping roof to ward off the harsh rainfall and windows that have a wooden ACP profile on the exterior, the humble simplicity of these construction materials were used to render a rather sober and simplistic effect to the entire façade. One of the most special features of the house are the windows , with its white intricate grills which replicate the beautiful elements of nature with motifs of birds’, a house and branches of a tree creating a very playful narration of the nature around.

Planned meticulously such as when you enter, you’re invited to the lobby space. The Living and the dining are divided by a TV unit acting as a visual buffer between the two spaces. The other rooms include a kitchen and parents’ bedroom. A simple stairway made of wood and patterned tiles leads to the 1st floor, designed in a way such as it appears to be cantilevered from the adjoining stone cladded wall of the kitchen. Clad in engineered and pine wood the staircase has a very modern antique touch to it. The 1st floor is completely private where there are 3 bedrooms; master bedroom, guest bedroom and kid’s bedroom, all with attached toilets and a study cum TV room. This TV room was a common family space for their evening chill out space with L shaped window opening that served an enchanting view of the trees and the neighboring houses.
